Early Life and Career
Franziska Elisabeth Kohlund was born in Switzerland in 1883. She began her acting career in the early 1900s, performing in a variety of theater productions. In 1914, she made her film debut in the silent film "Die letzte Rose".
Film and Television
Kohlund went on to appear in over 100 films and television shows throughout her career. She often played character roles, such as the wicked stepmother in the 1937 film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". She also appeared in a number of German films, including "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (1920) and "Metropolis" (1927).
Theater
In addition to her film and television work, Kohlund continued to perform on stage. She appeared in a number of Broadway productions, including "The Diary of Anne Frank" (1955) and "The Miracle Worker" (1959). She also performed in a number of Shakespeare productions, including "Hamlet" and "Macbeth".
Later Life and Legacy
Kohlund retired from acting in the early 1960s. She died in 1966 at the age of 83. She is remembered as one of the most versatile and talented actresses of her generation.
